“Las Vegas’s Imagine Dragons have crafted an impressive commercial sound that pitches them somewhere between The Killers and Athlete … Personal favourite is the wonderful Selene which proves that these guys have the ability to create a sound that is all their own. It is hard not to imagine that they will have a posse of major labels sniffing around on the back of this ep.”
-TheMusicCritic.co.uk (August 20, 2010)
“…on the strength of recent live performances and their latest release, the gorgeously synth-textured five-song EP Hell and Silence, Imagine Dragons are the only group with the pop instincts and arena-ready confidence required to dominate on an international level. Led by Dan Reynolds, the Dragons dish up confectionary rock tunes that strike the perfect balance between dirty leather-pants guitar antics and suave dance-floor glitter. If there’s any justice, the band’s stomping, disco-kissed ballad “Selene” will be blasting from every conceivable retail outlet and Hollywood rom-com very soon.”
- Seven Magazine: Band with Best odds of Becoming the Next Killers (July 29, 2010)
“An EP with great production, addictive hooks, and all types of promise. One of the best things this reviewer has received in his mailbox in months. Expect big things from Imagine Dragons.”
- Hell and Silence Review – The Painted Man (July 27, 2010)
Winner of “Best Local Indie Band 2010″
- Las Vegas Weekly “Best of Las Vegas” Awards
“Dan Reynolds, imposing singer of Imagine Dragons and master of the guttural scream, was the clear winner of Thursday’s doubleheader with Chicago three-piece Hey Champ. From his manic attack on the snare up front, to his exuberant and jerky stomps, to his final hurrah that involved beating up Popscene’s brick wall, Reynolds was brimming with too much energy to possibly be legal. His stage presence was a peculiar cross between Biff Tannen pre-DeLorean time machine and a lumberjack with attention deficit disorder… For their San Francisco debut, Imagine Dragons reeled in the reluctant audience with the syncopated and soaring chorus of “All Eyes,” and the mesmerizing guitar work of floppy-haired Wayne Sermon on “Hear Me” and “Clouds.” I could see this band rocking the hell out of festival stages in the future.”
- TreeSwingers.com: Imagine Dragons and Hey Champ at Popscene 07/15/10 (July 17, 2010)
“The passion exuded onstage from just frontman Dan Reynolds is enough to power the entire city and county of San Francisco…The rest of the band is incredibly musically talented…but what was really notable about Imagine Dragons’ performance had less to do with them, and far more to do with the Popscene crowd, which had arrived steadily during the set to fill the venue to the brim.”
- SF Examiner: Imagine Dragons, Hey Champ at Popscene (July 15, 2010)
“If you’re looking for an opening band, 30 Seconds to Mars, look no further. Imagine Dragons are your guys. Last night the five of them took the Viper Room by storm with their arena-worthy anthems.”
- L.A. Weekly: Live Review at the Viper Room (July 14, 2010)
“You read this blog to discover new and exciting music. Well, you’re welcome for introducing you to the next big thing: Imagine Dragons. I caught this underground … indie-rock sensation at the Viper Room and they blew me away live as much as their EP’s have.”
- The Album Doctor: Hell and Silence EP Review – 5 of 5 stars (Apr 14, 2010)
“Imagine Dragons delivers an energetic dosage of electronic synth-pop that soars on its second EP, Hell and Silence … Imagine Dragons has talent, an infectious second record, and a promising future.”

“—bold and unapologetic on the inside, with a tinge of the old sparkle …Imagine Dragons carry themselves on stage with the distinct traits of a band that long ago mastered the art of Vegas: entertainment.”
- Drew Kennedy, BMI.com (Mar 10, 2010)
“In short order, their head-bobbing songs and throat grabbing live shows have made them clear contenders… Onstage, the caged energy and focus on sound over image recall nothing less than “Radio Free Europe”-era R.E.M.”
– Terry Bradlow, 944 Magazine: “Imagine Stardom: A Profile Of A Band On The Rise” (Mar 03, 2010)
“…they are 50 shades of amazing…They have some really great songs that I love, love, love. Like “Cover Up” or “I Need A Minute”. They’re playing SXSW this year and I highly recommend catching them.”
- Violet, KVGS-Las Vegas, The Sands Report (Feb 25, 2010)
“Las Vegas-based Imagine Dragons has been creating a lot of buzz and looks set to become a household name soon. Music experts are predicting they are the next big act to come out of Las Vegas following on the heels of The Killers and Panic! At the Disco.”
- VegasDeluxe.com (Oct 30, 2009)
“Upon taking in this bunch’s new EP you get the sense that they could probably turn the recitation of the ingredients to a bottle of Prell into an arms-in-the-air anthem. With outsized synth lines, ringing, perpetually cresting guitars and massive syncopated beats and cymbal splashes, Imagine Dragons don’t make any bones about believing that bigger is always better… it’ll only be a matter of time before a song like “Curse” is all over the radio.”
- Jason Bracelin, Las Vegas Review Journal (EP Review – Oct 29, 2009)
“The driving beat and hook-laden melody will burrow its way into your brain and stay there — and that’s a very, very good thing… the desert sky’s the limit for these Vegas natives.”
- Steve Pierce, Rhombus Magazine: Song of the Day (Sep 11, 2009)
“The near-capacity Hard Rock crowd who witnessed Thursday night’s closer. . . saw a frantic yet diligently executed, perfectly mixed finale that, for the first time I’ve witnessed locally in a quite a while, had the audience bolting to their feet and roaring, happily startled at the explosion.”
- Dave Surratt, Las Vegas Citylife (Jul 02, 2009)
“Local band Imagine Dragons got to step onto the big stage when Train bowed out of Bite of Las Vegas. . . The rockers were on the second stage to start the day-long festival, but were invited to the main stage that evening to play in front of 20,000 people when Train lead singer Patrick Monahan took ill. Blue October Uncle Kracker and Parachute rounded out the headliners.”
- Jason Scavone, Daily Fiasco (Oct 19, 2009)
“Imagine Dragons have produced a bloody quality tune with I Need A Minute … fantastically dynamic, possessed of some sick bass riffs, great vocals and enough intelligence to veer away from ever sounding uncomfortably like The Killers at any point.”
- Danny Wadeson, The 405: Cloud Corner, UK (Sep 21, 2009)
“. . . slayed a mesmerized crowd led by Dan Reynolds on vox and keys, delivering beautifully-produced yet exotic indie rock-pop tunes that put this new band high on the wave of new indie talent exploding nationally. . .”
- “Eggman” Steve Eggleston, Vegas Rocks! Magazine (Jul 02, 2009)
“After winning two battles [of the bands], booking other shows, and watching their fan base grow each day, the future is looking brighter and brighter for Imagine Dragons.”
- Spencer Flanagan, The Daily Universe (Jan 15, 2009)
“Armed with catchy tunes and industry know-how, these [Dragons] are going places.”
- April Corbin, Las Vegas Weekly (Jul 16, 2009)
“. . . included a set by daring, driving, interesting punk-pop act Imagine Dragons, whose total, big-label-worthy package crept up and smacked unsuspecting diners into slack-jawed amazement and cheers by the end.”
- Dave Surratt, Local Music Issue, Las Vegas Citylife (Jul 16, 2009)
“The EP is one of the catchiest CDs I have put into my CD player in a long time. . . I just wanted to turn up the volume as loud as it could go and learn every word so I could sing along.”
